This is an origin story in the Vault universe. The Shadows were once human…explorers and adventurers who went into the fort and never came out. Contained by the moss-covered walls and dark chambers, they move as remnants of themselves, drawn to Horns like moths to a flame.

We went a very different direction with this film than any I’ve yet done and it was amazing to be along for the ride - post should be a blast! Amy Eight (our brilliant wardrobe and SFX makeup person) had a brilliant idea for this film - why not connect with Butoh dancers and see what their process and unique movement style could bring to an exploration of the Shadows? We connected with Nicole Walters and her troupe Ash Pillar, and she (and friends) decided to come onboard to help us tell this story. We also welcomed back Nicky Smit, who was the cinematographer for Vault and was excited to get into the forts with some real cameras and see what came out. Scott Taylor is once again creating incredible soundscapes as well as lending great camera equipment and lighting, and Phoebe Mc Garry (1st AC) and Isaac Handelman (Gaffer) rounded out our dream team. We shot at Fort Flager once again, revisiting familiar spaces as well as exploring Battery Grattan which ended up being an amazing space for Horn’s lair.
